Carlos Manuel Olano Paredes

Carlos Olano Paredes completed his PhD in History at Freie Universität Berlin in 2022 and is currently working as a postdoctoral assistant in Iberian and Latin American History at the University of Bern. In his doctoral thesis he worked on Basque migration and trade networks in the second half of the 18th century. His research interests are related to cultural and intellectual history, the history of written culture, as well as the materialities and practices of knowledge in a global perspective. He is currently developing his postdoctoral project related to the way in which former colonial elites tried to adapt to the capitalist system through land use in the second half of the 19th century.
