The forest model and the ecological transformation of the landscape in the Southern Cone. Critical analysis of the model of forest production in the cases of Chile, Argentina and Uruguay from 1980-2020

Through the present investigation it is proponed to identify the establishment of the “silviculture” as a specific model of transformation of the ground in capital in the Southern Cone countries; and, as a consequence, to make clear the ecological transformation of the landscape associated to it, as part of the processes of anthropogenic transformation. To account for the phenomenon, I have selected Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. Three cases that share the model of industrial production of forest monoculture. For the study of each case, it has been selected, as research corpus, on one hand, laws, official data, legal documents of change of ground usage, of ownership and of industrial settlement, that bring to realize of the establishment of this paradigm; and on the other hand, journalist production and of media: newspapers, magazines, audiovisual material, images, photographs and archive documents which expose the ecological transformation of the landscape and the associated socio-environmental conflicts. The work will be circumscribed to the period between 1980 and 2020, as in these years is developed and consolidated the model of silviculture on a large scale
