Mariano Torres

Ph.D. in History, University of Paris I. 1992. Master in History from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Bachelor in History from the Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. He has been Visiting Professor at the Free University of Berlin in 1992, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2007; and 2011; University of Montréal in 2004, and the University of Padua in 2009. Research grants: CONACHYT, (Mexico) 1990; DAAD (Germany) 1992; Government of Canada 1994; Humboldt Foundation (Germany) 1997, 1998, 2001, 2007, 2017; Erasmus Mundus Consortium 2009; La Chaire d’Amérique Latine (University of Toulouse-Le Mirail, France) 2010; Foreign Associate Professor at the University of Paris I in 2009, 2010 at the Free University of Berlin. Member of the CONACHYT registry of adjudicators. Publications in Germany, Argentina, Canada, Spain, France, England, Italy, and Mexico: 36 articles in indexed magazines, 44 Book Chapters and 9 Books between 1984 and 2021.

Project

From the decline of the Porfiriato to the fury of agrarianism. Two views on agriculture and society in Atlixco, Puebla. Carlos Maurer and Francisco Lozano. 1906 -1938

The project explores the transit of agriculture in the privileged Val de Cristo -today known as the city and valley of Atlixco- when the modernization of its 48 agricultural enterprises (ranches and haciendas) was abruptly interrupted, which, together with its 7 textile factories, made this geographic contiguous area one of the development poles of the State of Puebla.
